Harry Melling to Star Opposite Christian Bale in ‘The Pale Blue Eye’

Harry Melling, known for his roles in the Harry Potter franchise and The Queen’s Gambit, has been cast opposite Christian Bale in the upcoming horror/thriller film The Pale Blue Eye. Deadline was first to report.

Set in 1830, the movie will focus on a series of murders that happened at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point. Bale plays the detective assigned to work the case. The detective is paired with a young cadet, played by Melling, who eventually becomes known as Edgar Allan Poe.

The Pale Blue Eye is written and directed by Scott Cooper, based on the Louis Bayard novel of the same name. Cooper will produce alongside Bale, John Lesher, and Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek Pictures — who will produce and finance the feature.

The film is due to release on Netflix, but there is currently no projected release date. Filming is reportedly scheduled to begin sometime this fall, so it’s possible we can expect a release date for somewhere in mid to late 2022. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available.
