Frank Dillane, Haley Squires, Clémence Poésy, & Jamael Westman Join Apple’s ‘The Essex Serpent’

Frank Dillane (Fear the Walking Dead), Haley Squires (Adult Material), Clémence Poésy (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), and Jamael Westman (Anne Boleyn) have joined the cast of Apple’s The Essex Serpent starring Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston.

The Essex Serpent, based on the book of the same name by Sarah Perry, follows newly widowed Cora (Danes) who escapes an abusive marriage and then relocates from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter in Essex, where superstitions grow that the mythical creature known as the Essex Serpent has returned to the area.

Dillane will play a young surgeon named Luke Garrett, who finds his intellectual match in Cora. Squires will star as Martha, Cora’s servant and closest confidante. Poésy’s character is Stella Ransome is beloved by her husband, Will (Hiddleston), and welcomes Cora to the town and quickly forms a friendship with her. And Westman will aid Dillane’s young surgeon as Dr. George Spencer.

Production is underway, and written by Anna Symon and directed by Clio Barnard. It will premiere exclusively on Apple TV+, no release date is set at this time.
