During the virtual First Contact Day celebration, a new look at Captain Kathryn Janeway (voiced by Kate Mulgrew) was released. With Mulgrew reprising her role, Captain Janeway will serve as the Starship’s built-in emergency training hologram. Revealed by the series executive producers Kevin and Dan Hageman, they also announced that Star Trek: Prodigy will take place in 2383 after the events of Star Trek: Voyager and in the Delta Quadrant.
The series is the first aimed at the younger audience, and will follow “a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future.”
The main difference between this series and the others in the franchise is that this group knows nothing about the ship they have commandeered, but that will change as they get introduced to the Starfleet and all it represents.
Star Trek: Prodigy will premiere on Paramount+ later this year.
