Tom Hiddleston has been cast alongside Claire Danes for Apple TV+’s newest series, The Essex Serpent.

The film, based on the Sarah Perry penned novel of the same name, follows Cora (Danes), a newly-widowed woman, after she relocates to a small village in Essex where she becomes intrigued by the local superstition of a mythical creature, the Essex Serpent, returning to the area.

Tom Hiddleston has joined as Will Ransome, the trusted leader of the close-knit community.

Clio Barnard directs the Anna Symon script and production began yesterday, March 15. No release date has been estimated.

You can see Hiddleston next in the premiere of his highly anticipated return as the God of Mischief, Loki, in his own series, Loki, on June 11 on Disney+.
