Elle Fanning Boards ‘Francis and the Godfather’ With Oscar Isaac
The upcoming feature about the making of The Godfather has landed its next star. Elle Fanning is set to join the film, Francis and the Godfather, as Ali MacGraw. She joins the previously announced Oscar Isaac, playing Francis Ford Coppola; Elisabeth Moss, playing Eleanor Coppola; and Jake Gyllenhaal, playing Robert Evans.
Francis and the Godfather will focus on the battles between a 31-year-old Coppola and Evans, who was pushing for Marlon Brando and Al Pacino to star in The Godfather. Fanning’s character was the then-wife of Evans.
Barry Levinson is set to direct the film, based on a script by Andrew Farotte. Mike Marcus, Doug Mankoff, Andrew Spaulding, Kevin Turen, Jon Levin, and Jason Sosnoff will produce.
One of the most-widely recognized films of all time, The Godfather focuses on the head of the Corleone organized crime family, who transfers power of the dynasty over to his son. The film and its two subsequent sequels were written and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, adapted from the Mario Puzo novel of the same name.
