The final issue of Tales From the Umbrella Academy: You Look Like Death is available now!

The story of Klaus Hargreeves from Gerard Way and Shaun Simon (The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys), You Look Like Death issue #6 features art by I.N.J. Culbard, lettering from Nate Piekos, and a cover by The Umbrella Academy‘s Gabriel Bá, along with two variant covers from I.N.J. Culbard and Jenny Frison.

Gerard Way! With funding from the Hollywood Gods, Klaus directs his new film, starring ageing starlet Vivian Clarke, in a longshot attempt to rein in her evil, while finding some peace for his doomed author friend. But the real ace in hole may be the vampire chimp lord who’s put a price on Klaus’s head.

In the previous issues, Klaus was kicked out of the Umbrella Academy house by dear old dad Sir Reginald Hargreeves and left to his own devices. On his way out, he raids a local drug stop belonging to the sinister vampire-chimp Mr. Shivers. In an attempt to escape the new price on his head, Klaus runs off to the one place he knows he’ll fit in — Hollywood. When he arrives he finds solace with a jaded actress who’s fallen from the limelight, Vivian Clarke, who uses Klaus’ powers to her advantage. But soon he catches on, and we learn that Vivian a dark and sinister secret has found itself a new host in Ms. Clarke …

At the end of issue #5, Klaus has designed a way to get Vivian and her dark powers under control and Mr. Shivers off his back, as well as help his author friend stuck in The Void, Lyle. Let’s make a movie!

There are spoilers for issue #6 of Tales From the Umbrella Academy: You Look Like Death below.

Issue #6 brought a satisfying conclusion to this series, showing a more confident and capable Klaus than we meet in the Umbrella Academy comics. Unlike the Klaus we see in The Umbrella Academy Netflix show, the Klaus in You Look Like Death somehow manages to wrap up all of his nemeses in a tight little bow, and move on. Something we wouldn’t have expected from a younger Séance.

Another great little addition to this was Klaus shedding the shadow of his father as he makes his own life out in Hollywood. Reginald is a constant antagonist in the Hargreeves’ lives, even after he dies, and to see Klaus grow out of the trauma of his father (at least for now) was a welcome site.

This satisfied the story for every character involved, with each of them getting exactly what they deserve. We even got a glimpse of a popular sibling relationship in Klaus and Allison, and it was refreshing to see the support.

Klaus outsmarted all those who thought they had him fooled, and saved the one who saw himself as helpless. It was truly a masterful end to the series written by Gerard Way and Shaun Simon. We can’t wait for subsequent series about the other Hargreeves siblings to follow.

You can order all issues of Tales From the Umbrella Academy: You Look Like Death online through Things From Another World or digitally through Dark Horse Comics. Be sure to check your local comic shops as well! Additionally, a complete 6-issue volume will be available March 17 and is available for pre-order.
