The season 5 premiere of Riverdale last week left one of the show’s supposed “endgame” couples ending their relationship. At prom, Archie had revealed to Veronica that he wrote a song for Betty and that they kissed once during Hedwig. The news left Veronica heartbroken leading her to confess to Hermione what happened — something Hiram angrily overheard. The CW has released a sneak peek from tonight’s episode, “Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Preppy Murders,” in which Archie is fearing for his life thanks to Hiram (again). Watch the clip below!
In the clip, Archie is working out at the El Royale when Hiram grabs him in a chokehold, asking him if he thought there wouldn’t be any consequences for breaking his daughter’s heart. Archie breaks free, and Hiram continues confronting him, even not-so-subtly bringing up Fred. They’re about to get at it when Tom holds Archie back, standing in between the two.
