The Cybersmiler of the Year award is sponsored by The Cybersmile Foundation, an organization that works to “promote kindness, diversity, and inclusion by building a safer, more positive digital community.” The nominees for this award are celebrities that the organization believes have exemplified these qualities through their actions, “spreading kindness and awareness about various social issues.” Any fan of Collins would be quick to tell you that these qualifications describe the man to a tee, and they would be right.
The man who notably played the angel Castiel on Supernatural is pretty darn close to the real deal in real life. Collins is known for using his platform to advocate for charitable causes, social issues, and the aiding of marginalized communities by amplifying the voices of underrepresented members of society. Best known for GISH (formerly GISHWHES), the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt, and his charity Random Acts, the actor/philanthropist has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars advocating for a myriad of worthy causes (a more in-depth look at Collins’ charity work can be found here).
Collins’ dedication to serving others is apparent in everything he does, and as such, it’s no surprise that his efforts for good are being recognized. Congratulations, Misha!
