What if Peggy Carter had taken the Super Soldier serum? Or Yondu had found a wandering child from Wakanda named T’Challa and taken him around the galaxy as he had Peter Quill? These, and many more alternate paths, are set to be explored in the new animated series What If…? premiering on Disney+ in summer 2021.

The show, narrated by The Watcher and voiced by Jeffrey Wright, explores the Marvel films we know … if something had been changed. The Watcher oversees the … you guessed it … Multiverse, which is clearly Marvel’s post-Avengers path. It will see many of our beloved Marvel actors reprise their roles in voiceovers for their characters, including Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Jeremy Renner (Clint Barton), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes).

In news that may simultaneously break and uplift the hearts of Marvel fans, it would appear that Chadwick Boseman recorded lines for T’Challa’s appearance in the series, marking this as his final performance as Black Panther, though that has yet to be confirmed by Marvel or Disney.

What If…? will be premiering exclusively on Disney+ in the summer of 2021.
