Well Drew Crew, it’s been a long hiatus, but the wait is finally over! We have our first look at season 2 of Nancy Drew, and wow, it looks as amazing as we’ve hoped. With more scares, new characters, and the specter of imminent doom hanging over it all (as usual), there’s a lot to unpack. In the spirit of our tenacious teen super-sleuth, we dug deep into this trailer for clues. So pull up a chair and check your closet for a vengeful murder ghost: we’re breaking down all the twists and turns. But be warned: The road ahead is full of spoilers for season 1, so turn back now if you haven’t watched it yet!
After making his first appearance in “The Haunting of Nancy Drew” back in season 1, it seems new Horseshoe Bay police chief Abe Tamura will be more of a thorn in the side of the Drew Crew this time around.

Even more ominous? A murder victim has been found, and according to Tamura, her last words were “Nancy Drew.” As George says, how does Nancy get involved in so many murders?

We also get another ominous reminder that the Drew Crew’s lives are still on the line as Ace contemplates the hook he saw in his death vision in the season 1 finale (if this show harms one hair on Ace’s head, I will riot).

George and Nick share an intimate moment, sure to cause anxiety for Drewson fans and joy for George/Nick lovers.

Lest we forget, Nancy is still dealing with the ramifications of the reveal that Lucy Sable is her mother and Ryan Hudson is her father. She finds a tree with Lucy’s initials carved in it … and we briefly get a glimpse of Ryan Hudson paying his respects. Can we hope for a father-daughter heart to heart?

This next Easter egg is blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, but could potentially set up a huge crossover. Nancy is heard referring to someone as a “Bobbsey” before we see a shot of this guy:

For those who don’t know, the Bobbsey Twins are a popular set of mystery solving book characters that became popular around the same time as Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys. With confirmation already that a spin-off surrounding Tom Swift, another legacy book character, is in development, could the show be introducing its own version of the twins? The actor in this shot is Praneet Akilla, who recently teased his involvement in season 2. With series lead Kennedy McMann also teasing the arrival of the Bobbsey Twins on her social media, it’s safe to say that the Drewniverse is expanding rapidly.
Oh, and did you guys forget about the Aglaeca? Well, that terrifying little sea witch definitely didn’t forget about the Drew Crew! She’s back to her old terrifying tricks, and everyone’s pretty freaked out, naturally. Also, who’s Nick getting in a fight with? Why does Ace look injured? Whose bus is that (and why are we lighting it on fire)?

We even get a better look at Edith Nickerson, Nick’s mother, played by The Walking Dead‘s Jeryl Prescott:

And last but not least, we have Nancy dangling over a cliff, as usual. This girl seriously needs to stay away from bodies of water and cliffsides for a while.
