Disney fans and book lovers alike, it’s time to get excited! Julie Murphy, author of the YA novel Dumplin’, will make her adult fiction debut in an upcoming book titled If the Shoe Fits. The book will be a reimagining of the classic Cinderella story. The story will follow Cindy, who’s just graduated with a degree in shoe design and trying to make a name for herself. She takes a job with her stepmother, who works on a reality TV show that conveniently has an open spot. Cindy volunteers, hoping to find her fashion niche, and in the process, she becomes a body positivity icon for many women, especially plus-sized women.
If the Shoe Fits will also launch a new line of stories for Disney Publishing titled Meant to Be. Each book in the series will offer fresh contemporary spins on classic Disney princess stories. The other books in the series will also cater to the adult audience.
