Waiting for the Barbarians is a drama that follows a Magistrate (Mark Rylance) working at an excluded frontier outpost on the border of an unnamed empire. The Magistrate begins to question his loyalty to the empire after he discovers Colonel Joll (Johnny Depp), who’s in charge of reporting on the Barbarians’ activities, and the security at the border has been conducting a series of cruel interrogation tactics.
Waiting for the Barbarians stars Mark Rylance, Johnny Depp, and Robert Pattinson, and is written by J.M. Coetzee and directed by Ciro Guerra. The film will be available on digital beginning August 7, be sure to watch the trailer below.
