Netflix Releases Full ‘Ghost in the Shell’ Trailer

Netflix released the first full trailer for their Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 anime on January 28. The franchise is set in a world where humans and machines are so deeply integrated that, for some, the line between human and machine is blurred entirely. This long-standing and wildly popular franchise has produced several animated series, movies, and video games since the debut of the original manga in 1989. Several iconic characters will return in this newest adaptation, including Major Motoko Kusanagi, who will be facing a new foe. Here’s how Netflix Asia describes the new series:

In the year 2045, the world has entered a systematic “Sustainable War.” Hired as a mercenary unit, the former members of Japan’s elite Section 9 are faced with the sudden appearance of “Post-Human.” A being with tremendous intelligence and physical capabilities. -Netflix Asia

The trailer is also the first real look fans have for the animation style for this adaptation, and the 3D animation is wildly different than any style the past Ghost in the Shell series has used. Based on the comments the trailer has received so far, it seems fans may take some time to warm up to this new style. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think!
