Robert Downey Jr. Returning as Iron Man for the ‘What If…?’ Disney+ Series
With Disney+ officially out, it’s only a matter of time before more of the streaming service’s original content starts to follow. Among them is What If…?, Marvel’s brand new animated series that will bring back a roster of its leading stars in voice acting roles. The series would cover different aspects of the MCU if they were done differently, i.e., if Agent Carter took the super-soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers and a zombie Captain America. One actor in question about returning is Robert Downey Jr.; however, it looks like he’ll be returning after all.
Jeff Goldblum, who plays Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok, recently visited BuzzFeed to promote his own Disney+ series, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, where he got to play with puppies and answer questions. One of those questions included whether he’d be returning in the 2021 movie Thor: Love and Thunder. Although he said he doesn’t quite know but would love to, Goldblum did reveal he played the part of Grandmaster just a few days prior for What If…?. That episode includes Grandmaster, Iron Man, and Korg; saying that both Robert Downey Jr. and Taika Waititi will be returning to play their iconic roles, respectively.
It was already revealed that Goldblum and Waititi would be returning, but RDJ returning to voice Tony Stark is new and exciting news.
What If…? will be premiering in the Summer of 2021 on Disney+.
