Code 8, a joint project between Stephen and Robbie Amell, started as a short film they created that was released in 2016. They ran a crowdfunding campaign to raise $200,000 to turn it into a full-length feature film, and were fully funded in just two days. The current total sits at over $2 million on the campaign.
Today the film has been given a release date of December 13 for theaters in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, Miami, Kansas City and New York City with more cities being announced at a later date. It will also be available on most on demand platforms as of the same day.
The film Code 8 is centered on Robbie Amell’s character Conner Reed, a desperate man who possess special powers and clashes with a militarized police force after committing a petty crime. It also stars Stephen Amell (Garrett), Sung Kang (Agent Park), Alex Mallari Jr (Rainer) and Aaron Abrams (Davis). Code 8 was written by Chris Pare, directed by Jeff Chan with Stephen Amell, Robbie Amell, Brian Campbell and Rebecca Bouck as producers.
