The CW has released three new teaser trailers ahead of the premiere of Nancy Drew, the newest adaptation of the classic mystery novels. The short teasers, titled “Believe,” “Nancy,” and “Ghosted,” offer glimpses into the show’s tone, most notably its more overtly supernatural mysteries than the original novels.
“Believe” focuses on Nancy’s belief that even the strangest occurrences are based in reality. She says “I don’t believe in ghosts. I believe in searching for the truth” as the screen shifts to Nancy’s confused and terrified face.
The second teaser, “Nancy,” focuses on the brand of the show, referencing Nancy’s notoriety within the town of River Heights and also “Nancy Drew” as an iconic character. It suggests that while you may think you know Nancy Drew, the show has a few surprises up its sleeve.
The final teaser “Ghosted” gives several glimpses of the ghostly creature Nancy appears to be hunting in previously released trailers. It implies that perhaps, unlike the novels, the ghost is truly a supernatural being and not just a criminal using the occult as cover for his or her crimes.
Nancy Drew stars Kennedy McMann, Tunji Kasim, Alex Saxon, Leah Lewis, Maddison Jaizani, Scott Wolf, and Riley Smith, with a pilot cameo by original TV Nancy Pamela Sue Martin (who played the character in The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries). The show is executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl and Marvel’s Runaways) and Noga Landau (The Magicians.)
