Director Robert Adetuyi (Stomp the Yard, Bring It On) and award winning writers Danny Schur and Rick Chafe team up to bring their new movie musical STAND! to the Royal Theater in Toronto Sept 9-11.

Set in Winnipeg 1919, citizens find themselves in the grips of violent anti-immigrant riots and a general strike that altered the course of history. In this tumultuous time, STAND! follows Ukrainian immigrant Stefan, who is smitten with his Jewish suffragette neighbor, Rebecca, but family and anti-immigrant veterans oppose the would-be Romeo and Juliet. When a movement develops to better the lives of immigrants, Stefan, Rebecca and a city of immigrants take on the halls of power in a high-stakes and inspirational final stand.

Starring Marshall Williams (Glee), Laura Slade Wiggins (Shameless), Gregg Henry (Guardians of the Galaxy), and talented newcomer Lisa Bell, STAND! has already been nominated for Best Score at the Burbank International Film Festival.

STAND! leaves audiences with a renewed understanding of what it means to be a citizen in a diverse democracy, with the message (delivered in song): “Hearts can change….and the change starts in mine.” Check out the teaser trailer below.
