Prequel Comics and Novel Announced for ‘Star Trek: Picard’


The new Star Trek series centered around Jean-Luc Picard is coming to CBS All Access next year. It was revealed at the STLV Publishing Panel that Star Trek: Picard will get comics and a novel as a prequel leading up to the show. The prequels will cover the years between Jean-Luc Picard’s last appearance in Star Trek: Nemesis and Star Trek: Picard.

CBS will partner up with IDW Publishing and Simon & Schuster’s Galley Books.

First, Mike Johnson and Kirsten will write a three-part comic book series called Countdown. It will run from November 2019 to January 2020. After that, a novel called The Last Best Hope written by Una McCormack will be published in February 2020. The book will introduce the new characters who will star alongside Picard in the new series.  Una McCormack has written several novels in the Star Trek universe before and four Doctor Who Novels.
