Film Rights Acquired to Rainbow Rowell’s ‘Eleanor & Park’

Fans of Rainbow Rowell’s bestselling book Eleanor & Park, rejoice! The writer took to Twitter to announce that PICTURESTART has acquired film rights to the novel, with Plan B set to produce.

Erik Feig, who served as production executive on such films as Twilight, Divergent and The Hunger Games, has committed through his production company to finance the film.

In perhaps the best bit of this news, Rainbow Rowell herself will be writing the script and serving as executive producer.

Eleanor & Park is a young love story set in 1986. Between mix tapes, comic books, bus rides, and complicated family dynamics, Eleanor and Park’s love blossomed against a backdrop of the pitfalls of high school. The book has won multiple awards and, like most of Rowell’s books, tells a beautiful coming-of-age story from the perspective of a different sort of protagonist.

You’re going to want to pick up this book (which to date has sold more than a million copies) and indulge!
