Nerds and Beyond is at WonderCon 2019 in Anaheim, California and were a part of the roundtable interviews with Aubrey Joseph (Run All Night) and Olivia Holt (I Didn’t Do It). The pair star in Cloak & Dagger which follows teenagers, Tyrone/Cloak (Aubrey Joseph) and Tandy/Dagger (Olivia Holt), who live in New Orleans and have superpowers, which stemmed from separate tragedies that happened on the same night when they were young. While learning how their powers work and what to do with them, they also try to deal with their feelings for each other.

In the interview they talk about how coming back for season two can be compared to a sophomore year. Season one touched on multiple heavy topics, and that will continue into the second season, along with bringing closure to some left-over questions and revealing new ones.

When asked if there would be a possibility of a duet from Joseph and Holt on the soundtrack, Holt responded, “it’s got to feel right we don’t want to force it we want to feel very authentic and organic,” and Joseph joked about a musical episode. Which I now want to see.

Touching on why people love Tyrone and Tandy’s relationship, Joseph talks about “Being there for one another…that companionship is something that we see obviously in a lot of film and tv, but not so much with a young black male and young white female… Just seeing these imperfect teenagers, and just seeing themselves in the things that we go through.”

The two-hour premiere of the second season of Cloak & Dagger will air April 4 on Freeform.
