Two months prior to Captain Marvel‘s cinematic release, Marvel Studios has published a featurette showing Brie Larson getting ready for her role as Carol Danvers and some behind-the-scenes footage of the movie.
Director Anna Boden – the first female director in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – is shown explaining that Captain Marvel is a film about discovery. In Carol Danvers’ case, it’s the discovery of her powers and the learning process of using them.
Answering the possibly most-asked question Marvel actors receive in interviews, Brie Larson shares the training regimen she worked through to become Captain Marvel in the short video clip. Larson trained for nine months prior to shooting and emphasizes how important this was for her to connect to the role.
Larson also explains why this character was so fascinating to her, explaining that “[The] sense of humor mixed with total capability and whatever challenge comes her way.“ was one of the things that drew her to Carol Danvers.
Since Carol Danvers is a pilot, Larson also visited an Air Force base and was able to be part of simulation flights and experience more things that helped her connect to the role.
While the featurette doesn’t show new scenes, it sure helps to get fans even more excited for the release of the film on International Women’s Day (March 8th). Check out the video below!
