After a tantalizing Easter egg in the first trailer for season 2, Nancy Drew has finally confirmed that the Bobbsey Twins are coming! Aadila Dosani and Praneet Akilla have been announced as Amanda and Gil Bobbsey, two new recurring characters. Deadline first broke the news, along with several tidbits about Amanda: “charming, but possesses a manic energy and street smarts as a result of growing up poor and on the wrong side of the tracks. Often resorting to petty crimes with her twin brother, Amanda puts herself and her twin above everyone and everything else.”
The Bobbsey Twins are legacy characters much like Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, and in keeping with the darker tone of Nancy Drew, they appear to have a very different backstory than their book counterparts. In the trailer for season 2, Akilla can briefly be seen as Nancy says “Gil Bobbsey?” (yes, we feel like super sleuths). Could the twins be tied to the mysterious abandoned bus the Drew Crew is seen screaming inside? How will their arrival complicate the new murder case Nancy finds herself tied to? One thing’s for sure: there’s never a dull moment in Nancy Drew’s world.
