At yesterday’s Final Fantasy VII: A Symphonic Reunion concert in Los Angeles, Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase (director and producer for the Final Fantasy VII Remake project respectively) surprised attendees with an in-person appearance.

They revealed a brand new teaser trailer for Final Fantasy VII Remake with never-before-seen footage and new Sephiroth art.

They also announced the release date for the remake: March 3 2020!

The trailer shows both cut-scenes and game play, the latter looking pretty similar to the game play of Final Fantasy XV. This means Square Enix has stepped away from the turn-based combat system in the original game. However, if the remake is anything like Final Fantasy XV, there will most likely also be an option to switch back and forth between turn-based and open combat in the options menu.

More information will be announced during the Square Enix E3 appearance today at 6 p.m. PDT. You can tune in to watch it live on the Square Enix stream here!
