The Blacklist Season 6 is premiering next month and NBC gave fans a first look into the anticipated return. It features the cast of The Blacklist as they describe how this season is different than any other one they have done before. If you have not caught up on this show, I suggest you stop reading and get yourself on Netflix. Elizabeth Keen, played by Megan Boone, is playing Raymond Reddington’s game, played by James Spader, as she tries to discover who this “Reddington” is and how it involves her. She now is ahead of his game as she knows whose bones were in the bag, making for a surprise that captivated and shocked audiences around the world last season.
Holiday cheer came a little early to fans of David Haydn-Jones when Arthur Ketch made his return to Season 14 of Supernatural in the mid-season finale, “The Spear.”

We last saw Ketch in the episode “Exodus” last season where he fled the Apocalypse World and returned to the bunker. Mary Winchester told Bobby in the season 13 finale that he was off “doing Ketch things,” and though he has been referenced several times throughout this season, tonight’s on-screen return was a surprise for viewers.
Haydn-Jones, active in the Supernatural fandom at fan conventions and online, never said a word. At Creation Entertainment’s “Salute to Supernatural: Chicago” convention in July, a fan asked Haydn-Jones if he would be returning to the show in season 14, and he said at the time he had not heard anything from the show.
All of that is now in the past, as he did make an appearance in last night’s episode. Without the power and assistance of the British Men of Letters, Arthur Ketch did what any other regular human would do and mailed the Winchesters the egg they needed to get Michael’s grace out of the arch angel, much to the dismay of Team Free Will. “The Spear” is the 17th episode Arthur Ketch has been in according to IMBD, which puts him in the top 12 most often recurring characters in Supernatural history.
Keep an eye out for our recap of “The Spear” to see how that worked out for them, and we look forward to seeing Arthur Ketch return to our screens in the future!
If you’ve been following the series of commercials from State Farm featuring David Haydn-Jones (Supernatural, A Bramble House Christmas) playing Gabe Gabriel, you might think you would know the character pretty well after watching more than a dozen commercials… but you would almost definitely be wrong.
In this surprising and laugh-out-loud funny 23-second spot, Gabe Gabriel shares a side of himself we’ve yet to see: his bare chest.
Many of the commercials with Gabe Gabriel have also had Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers in them as well, but this one does not. Instead, it’s just Haydn-Jones and real-life State Farm agent Patrick Minnis. Though Rodgers always adds something special when he’s there, these two hold their own here with ease. The bare chest and belly button ring might have something to do with that, but Gabriel’s ending line, “Get hip, bruh,” was pretty fantastic, too.
Stay tuned at Nerds and Beyond for more State Farm commercials as they become available!
As part of TV Guide’sEnd of Year lists, the publication Tweeted out several fandoms and left the choice of which show has the best fandom up to the fans themselves. Each fandom got its own Tweet, and every ‘like’ and reTweet counted as a vote.
Misha Collins, Jensen Ackles, and Jared Padalecki of Supernatural. Courtesy of IMDb.
It started off as a close race with other fandoms like Lucifer and Wynonna Earp, but ultimately Supernatural won the best fandom with 8,465 retweets and 10.5k likes!
Even Supernatural actor, Misha Collins, got into the spirit urging fans to vote and to crush the other fandoms in the competition. (With kindness, that is!)
Hey, @TVGuide, I don’t want to be a nattering copy editor, but there’s a missing character in your graphic. Oops! And also, SPN fandom, I just heard from a reliable source that other fandoms ARE ALSO TRYING TO WIN THIS?! Crush them. (With kindness). (But crush them.) https://t.co/QfaFzlofPJ
Taylor Swift recently concluded a 53-show run of her ‘Reputation’ tour, promoting her latest album of the same name. Today, on her 29th birthday, she announced a film that will chronicle the experiences she and her crew had during this time. The film is set to premiere on December 31, 2018 on Netflix.
Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes! Today I finally get to show you something we’ve been working on for a while… the trailer for the Reputation Stadium Tour! The entire concert film will premiere on @Netflix at 12:01AM PT December 31. pic.twitter.com/ZL3Kx2OUx8
The Screen Actors Guild announced its 2018 nominees for their coveted SAG awards on Wednesday morning. While SAG includes a membership of over 100,000 members nationwide, only a chosen few from the guild make up the nominations committee responsible for selecting the nominees for each category. Ultimately, all the members will vote on what amounts to a peer review of the best performances of the year.
The categories mirror most awards programs but are especially focused on the cast itself, rather than the picture or television show as a whole. SAG also presents a Lifetime Achievement Award. This year, it is being presented to Alan Alda. Alda is a six-time Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner, and is most famous for his role as “Hawkeye” in the Korean War era series M.A.S.H. as well as smaller roles on ER, TheWestWing, and 30Rock.
No one was surprised to see all three of the Marvel movies released in 2018 on the list of “Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture“. Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther were joined by Mission: Impossible – Fallout and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. A lesser known Netflix movie, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is a western themed collection of vignettes that is definitely worth a watch if that genre tickles your fancy.

Black Panther picked up a nod for “Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture” along with critically acclaimed A Star is Born. Rocker biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, the story of the late, great Freddie Mercury and the rise of Queen, fills out the category along with Crazy Rich Asians, a huge boon to Asian representation in Hollywood with spectacular set design. Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman, a story based on the real life events of Ron Stallworth and Flip Zimmerman who infiltrate the KKK, may be the least grossing of the nominees. But don’t count it out as a contender. Critics believe this is one of Lee’s best films.

Bradley Cooper (A Star is Born) and Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) are strong contenders in the “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role” category, along with Vice‘sChristian Bale and Viggo Mortensen, for his role in Green Book. John David Washington completes the category for his performance of Ron Stallworth in BlacKkKlansman. Washington is the son of Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington, who won a SAG award in 2016 for his role in Fences.

A Star is Born continues its sweep with the nomination of Lady Gaga for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role” but will come up against veteran nominee Glenn Close for her portrayal of Joan Castleman in The Wife. Other nominees include Emily Blunt for the recently released Mary Poppins Returns, as well as Melissa McCarthy for Can You Ever Forgive Me, the true story of best selling celebrity biographer, Lee Israel. Olivia Colman was the surprise in this category, receiving a nomination for her role as Queen Anne in The Favourite.

“Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role” holds two nominations from The Favourite, a film set in 18th century England, portraying the love triangle between the fictional Queen Anne, her adviser “Sarah” (Rachel Weisz) and assistant “Abigail” (Emma Stone). Both Weisz and Stone received nominations, as did Margot Robbie for her portrayal as “Mary Queen of Scots” in the film of the same name. Amy Adams also received a nomination for her portrayal of Lynne Chaney in Vice, a bio pic about Vice President Dick Cheney. Finally, Emily Blunt is nominated for her role as Evelyn Abbott in the intense thriller, A Quiet Place.

Timothee Chalamet receives a well deserved nomination for “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role” for his heart wrenching portrayal as “Nic,” the drug-addicted son of journalist David Sheff in Beautiful Boy. Adam Driver secured a nod for his role as police officer Flip Zimmerman in BlacKkKlansman, as well as Sam Elliott forA Star Is Born, where he plays “Bobby”, the responsible care-taking older brother of alcoholic country star “Jack.” Oscar winner Mahershala Ali has been nominated as well for his role as classical pianist “Dr. Don Shirley” in Green Book. The film tells the story about life changing friendship that develops between an African American classical pianist and an Italian immigrant bouncer as they trek together through the 1960’s deep south.

Television Nominations
In the category of “Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series“, seeing nominees like The Walking Dead, Westworld, or Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan starring John Krasinski is probably not a surprise. You may be less familiar with GLOW, a series in its third season on Netflix that brings to life the 1980’s wrestling series Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Netflix also received a nomination for the recently cancelled Marvel’sDaredevil starring Charlie Cox and Deborah Ann Woll.

GLOW also received a nomination for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series,” along with the Golden Globe winning Atlanta and the Emmy-winning hit The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.Barryalso received a nomination for its first season. The dramedy stars Bill Hader as a hitman-turned-actor in an attempt to turn over a new leaf. The Netflix produced comedy, The Kominsky Method, starring Alan Arkin and Michael Douglas, may be a tough one to beat. It is another hit from creator Chuck Lorre who also brought us Roseanne, Dharma & Greg, and Two and a Half Men.

This is Us and the critically acclaimed The Handmaid’s Tale return this year to the “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series” category. While Breaking Bad spin off, Better Call Saul, picks up its first nomination in this category along with co-nominee Ozark,The Americans closes out the category with its first ever SAG nomination. The crime drama has been running on FX since 2013 and stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys as Russian spies posing as an average American couple.

Penelope Cruz is also nominated for her role as Donatella Versace in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: An American Crime Story. Finally, Oscar and previous SAG award winner Patricia Arquette rounds out the category for her role in Escape at Dannemora, a Showtime miniseries where she plays “Tilly Mitchell,” a prison employee who becomes romantically involved with a pair of inmates and ultimately helps them escape.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: An American Crime Story pics up its second SAG Award nomination this year, with Darren Criss being nominated for “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie.” He joins a host of heavy hitters, such as Hugh Grant for A Very English Scandal,Antonio Banderas for Genius: Picasso and Bill Pullman in The Sinner. Anthony Hopkins, however, is going to be the one to beat with his incredible performance as the titular character in Amazon’s modern take on King Lear.

Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin pick up nominations for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series” for their roles in Grace and Frankie for the third year in a row. Allison Brie snagged her first nomination for her portrayal of “Ruth Wilder” in GLOW, the other Netflix produced show in this category. Alex Borstein and Rachel Brosnahan received a nod as well for their roles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel giving the show a total of three nominations this year.

Bill Hader and Henry Winkler received “Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series” nominations for their roles in the dark comedy, Barry. They will come up against former Oscar winners Alan Arkin and Michael Douglas for their work on The Kominsky Method, a comedy about an aging actor and his experiences as an acting coach. Tony Shalhoub, well known for his titular role on Monk, closes out the category for his role as “Abe Weismann” on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but whether or not it will be enough to beat the competition remains to be seen.

Ozark picks up two nominations for “Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series” for Laura Linney and Julia Garner. This is the second year in a row that Linney has received this nomination. Elizabeth Moss returns to the category this year to attempt a repeat of her 2018 win for The Handmaid’s Tale, but she will find fierce competition in Killing Eve’sSandra Oh, who delivers an impeccable performance as “Eve Polastri.” Finally, Golden Globe winner Robin Wright returns to the category with her fifth nomination for House of Cards.

“Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series” gives Bob Odenkirk his third nomination in this category for Better Call Saul. Fellow nominee and Golden Globe winner Sterling K. Brown is up for his third as well for his role as “Randall Pearson” on This is Us. John Krasinsky (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan) and Joseph Fiennes (The Handmaid’s Tale) are both up for their first nominations in this category, but they will be fighting an uphill battle against favorite, Sterling K. December is certainly a month for celebrations with all the holidays, and birthdays. Join us as we celebrate the lives and work of some of our favorite celebrities who have birthdays this month!
Bette Midler- Dec 1.
My favorite movie of Bette Midler is Hocus Pocus, seeing her as the sarcastic and humor witch Winifred Sanderson is genuinely magical. Midler is a chameleon and can portray a wide variety of roles, but it is her comedic musical roles that I look forward to the most.- Sarah
Andy Grammer-Dec. 3
Andy Grammer is a musician. I was able to see him when he toured with Train in 2016. At the time I had only somewhat known about him but while he was playing his set list I recognized a decent number of his songs. Grammer has had multiple hits such as “Fine By Me,” “Fresh Eyes,” and “Honey, I’m Good.” Over the summer he started a podcast, called “The Good Parts,” which is also the name of his most recent album.-Sam
Ian Somerhalder- Dec. 8
Ian Somerhalder has come a long way since 2004 when he got his breakthrough role playing Boone Carlyle in Lost. Most people know him as the arrogantly cocky older brother, Damon Salvatore, in The Vampire Diaries. I recently binged all eight seasons of TVD and I have to admit, Damon is by far my favorite character. In many ways, he is a lot like Dean Winchester, doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, especially where his younger brother is concerned. I’m excited for his next project, V-Wars, a new Netflix vampire drama set to debut next year.-Deb
Judi Dench- Dec. 9
Dame Judi Dench has played many of my favorite female British characters. She always manages to make every role memorable, whether it be as M in the modern era of James Bond films, as Queen Elizabeth in Shakespeare in Love, or as Philomena in Philomena. The character I love most, however, is Evelyn, one of the group of retirees who travel to India in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Evelyn proves that age is indeed just a number as she overhauls her life and finds new purpose, and even new love, in the most unexpected place.-Em
Kenneth Branagh- Dec. 10
Besides delivering the best portrayal of Gilderoy Lockhart one could possibly imagine, Kenneth Branagh has played multiple iconic roles on and off stage. He’s not only an Academy Award-nominated actor, he has also worked as a director on prestigious projects like the first two Thor films and most recently the re-adaptation of Murder On The Orient Express, in which he also starred. My favorite project besides the Thor films is definitely his work as a director for Shakespeare’s A Winter’s Tale for his own theater company starring Judi Dench.-Conny
Regina Hall- Dec.12
Remember hilariously loud movie-goer Brenda from the Scary Movie franchise? That’s Regina Hall, one of my favorite actresses. I’ve followed her work since that movie and loved watching her on Ally McBeal, Law & Order, and Blackish. Hall made history last month when she became the first Black woman in the New York Film Critics Circle’s 83-year history to win Best Actress, for her work in Support The Girls.-Margaret
Dick Van Dyke- Dec. 13
Dick Van Dyke is well known and loved for his role as Bert in Mary Poppins but it was his role as Dr. Mark Sloan on the television series Diagnosis Murder that really cemented me as a fan. Along with his detective son Steve and his fellow doctors Amanda and Jesse, Dr. Sloan assisted the Los Angeles police in solving murder cases every week. When it comes to his movie roles my favorite would have to be Edgar Hopper in the film What a Way to Go! where he plays the doomed first husband of Shirley MacLaine’s Louisa May Foster. No matter what role he plays, however, Van Dyke always brings a charming presence to the screen.-Em
Taylor Swift- Dec. 13
Taylor Swift has a great discography, ranging from her early country days to her new pop sound. My favorite album of hers is ‘1989’. The lyrics are the best she’s ever had, and the music is new, fresh. By far my favorite song on the album is ‘Style’. Swift’s voice is classic and timeless and I can’t wait to see where her career leads her.-Finn
Jackson Rathbone- Dec. 14 Twilight was one of the first things I saw Jackson in and probably one of my first fandoms. Jasper was always one of my favorite vampires in the Twilight saga, and Jackson did such a great job of bringing him to life.-Kayla
Theo James-Dec. 16
Theo James has graced our screens in many amazing roles over the course of his career. From a small part on Downton Abbey to his recurring role in the Underworld series as David, audiences have watched Theo’s career soar. One of his best-known lead roles has been Tobias Eaton, known as Four, in the post apocalyptic film adaptations of the Divergent book series. In addition to his success as an actor, fans may not know that Theo is also a talented musician! There is no denying his talent and we cannot wait to see what projects lay in Theo’s future.-Brianna
Krysten Ritter-Dec. 16
Krysten Ritter has been in some wonderful shows and movies, but one of her biggest roles is playing Jessica Jones on Netflix. Not your average hero, Jessica is a private investigator with superhuman strength, and real flaws people can relate to. Krysten is also an avid knitter and has been working with We Are Knitters as a celebrity designer, creating patterns for knitting kits that are delivered to your home.-Melanie
Alyssa Milano-Dec. 19
I greatly admire Alyssa Milano’s activism involvements, when she is speaking up about voting, animal rights, the Me-Too movement or any cause she believes in, she does it with such passion and knowledge. Milano uses her position and platform to bring awareness and fight for bettering the world. -Sarah
Samuel L. Jackson -Dec. 21
Samuel L. Jackson is a prolific actor. It is hard to pick just one movie of his to talk about, but the one that comes to mind immediately is Pulp Fiction. It was the first movie I can remember seeing him in, and it’s a classic. His performance is bombastic and just over-the-top enough. He is one of the best actors working today.-Finn
CCH Pounder -Dec. 25
I first noticed CCH Pounder in If These Walls Could Talk and was immediately drawn to her strong presence on screen. I’ve loved watching her on ER, Sons of Anarchy, The Shield, and various NCIS iterations. She helped found Artists for a New South Africa, a nonprofit that combats the African AIDS pandemic and fights to advance democracy and equality in South Africa.-Margaret
Stan Lee -Dec.28
We sadly lost Stan last month, but his impact on so many will never be lost. From his cameos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the comic book characters he created. I have Stan to thank for so many of my favorite comic book characters and heroes that I’ve grown up with and continue to love.-Kayla
Seth Meyers -Dec.28
I first saw Seth Meyers on Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update. At the time he was one of the writers for SNL, eventually becoming the head writer. Currently hosting Late Night, he’s witty, funny and pointed, talking about current events in a humorous way. His comedic style makes the news a little easier to stomach during these times.-Kari
Anthony Hopkins -Dec.31
Anthony Hopkins is perhaps most well known for his role as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs and the accompanying sequels, but perhaps my favorite role of his was Ted Crawford from the 2007 film Fracture alongside Ryan Gosling. He gave a stellar performance in the role, playing the part of a man who killed his wife and used his quick wit and charismatic personality to seemingly get away with the murder. In addition to his enigmatic and casual acting style, Hopkins is also a composer, painter, and philanthropist. He’s been nominated for 111 acting awards with 51 wins, and he was knighted in 1993 for his extraordinary service to the arts.- Sydney

Creation Entertainment puts on many conventions throughout the year; usually the amount of cons is in the double digits, and are days-long events that include panels, karaoke, autographs, photo-ops, and the ‘Saturday Night Special’ concert.
After attending my first Supernatural convention at the beginning of this year in Orlando, I really began to get a grasp of how massive these events are and the work that goes into setting them up and keeping an audience entertained for days. Both before and after Orlando, I watched many videos and listened to many stories from friends, actors, and musicians we’ve interviewed about just how much Louden Swain (Rob Benedict, Billy Moran, Michael Borja, Stephen Norton), Richard Speight, Jr., and Matt Cohen really do at these conventions.
After attending the Supernatural convention in Jacksonville this past weekend, it was more evident than ever how much they actually do and are relied upon.
Rachel Miner, Billy Moran, Richard Speight, Jr. and Rob Benedict – Courtesy of Nancy Davis
Rob Benedict and Richard Speight, Jr., are the hosts of every convention; they spend three (sometimes more) days entertaining the audience before the day begins, between panels, and once the day is over. The two of them have a “welcome” moment, that usually runs about 10-20 minutes long depending on the day, at the beginning of each day. These two completely improvise every welcome. You never quite know what you’re going to get, which makes it all the more exciting. What also might go unnoticed, is how every time Rob and Rich are out there, so is the rest of Louden Swain.
They perform all of the music throughout the weekend and will also get in on the improvisation. At Jacksonville, bassist Michael Borja was late since he had to catch a flight from work. At the welcome, Rich stepped in, and it created a fun dynamic as they talked about how much they missed Borja, and made jokes about Rich filling in for him. It really was a great way to get the day going, and the audience could not stop laughing and smiling. Louden Swain also performs at every single welcome and during all of the intermissions, and it’s fun to see what covers they’re going to come up with (we have to admit, hearing that they performed Christina Aguilera’s ‘Genie in a Bottle’ at a convention this year was one of my favorite things.)
Matt Cohen and Richard Speight, Jr. – Courtesy of Nancy Davis
They really do so much work to make sure to get the crowd pumped and ready for what’s ahead. Later on Friday nights, is karaoke – which after Jacksonville, will become solely hosted by Matt Cohen. At Jacksonville’s karaoke, it was the last night that Rich and Matt were going to be billed as karaoke co-hosts. Rich, as he explained, was stepping down as co-host (but would still make appearances from time to time at future cons) and Matt was taking the reigns as a solo host. During an emotional speech at the end of karaoke this past weekend, Rich talked about how much Matt really contributed to karaoke and to the cons in general. He talked about how the two of them created karaoke, and how it slowly built from a room with a couple people, to a couple dozen and into what it is right now – which is a massive party with fans and actors getting a truly unique experience.
The energy from karaoke was one I’ve never experienced before and it was truly special. I took a moment to look around the room, and not one person was having an awful time. Everyone was singing at the top of their lungs (even to songs they didn’t know) dancing, and interacting with other fans and the cast who were in attendance-Rich, Matt, Kim Rhodes, Briana Buckmaster, Adam Fergus, David Haydn-Jones and Emily Swallow. I also noticed that everyone was getting along, making friends with the people next to them, cheering if the person next to them got their name called, and truly feeling like a family. It was a moment I’ll never forget.
Saturdays at conventions are always fun. It’s a packed day and Rob, Rich and Louden Swain are always there to kick it off. There’s a vendors jam, in which Louden Swain comes out a few minutes before their scheduled autograph time and perform usually a two or three song acoustic set, which is always a highlight. It’s a really intimate and up-close performance, which makes it uniquely special. Everyone around the room was singing, smiling, and the audience also had a great kazoo solo during their performance of ‘Medicated’. It’s one of the things that many fans look forward to.
There’s also an incredible panel with Rob, Rich and Matt (lovingly dubbed R2M), where the three of them answer questions, joke around with each other, and with the audience. It’s always fun to see what they come up with, especially when Rich gets asked a question and goes, “Bobbo?”, putting Rob on the spot to answer. These three have such a great dynamic, so it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most fun panels at the con.
Matt is usually only there Friday night and Saturday of the con, but the smiles and the stories we hear about how humble, how kind, and how much fun he is really shows how much he resonates with everyone. He’s truly someone that people love to see at the conventions.
Saturday also brings us the Saturday Night Special. This is something that you can really feel how much love goes into making sure it’s perfect; something that the band is incredibly proud of and they should be. It’s usually an hour and a half long concert full of fantastic music including covers, and original Louden Swain tunes. One of the things you often hear most is about how Louden Swain are mentors to other people; they give them the confidence to step outside of their normal comfort zones and perform, and you can really see their growth. Rob, Billy, Mike and Stephen are skilled musicians, but remain humble and you can tell how much they truly love music and what they do.
The concert is unlike anything I’ve seen before; the preparations that go into it, how they switch out so many amazing performers including Ruth Connell, Matt Cohen, Kim Rhodes, Briana Buckmaster, Jason Manns, Richard Speight, Jr., and occasionally Jensen Ackles, and how every performance feels fresh and new. There’s moments that have becoming defining in this concert, such as the energy in the room during Swain’s ‘Amazing’ as the audience knows this was about Rob’s stroke, the way the audience sings in harmony during Swain and Mann’s rendition of ‘Hallelujah’, enough to make Rob and Jason put their microphones down. It’s the way that the audience plans months in advance to make sure the entire ballroom is lit up during Swain’s ‘She Waits’ – a song that they know is deeply important to the band, and the way that the audience dances and sings along to every single song that is played. The concert is so beloved, and one that many people travel to see.
On Sundays, Rob and Rich once again welcome everyone. This past Sunday at Jacksonville was a highlight; everyone was wearing Christmas hats and Louden Swain broke out in a Christmas song, to which they did about a ten-minute ad-lib to the lyrics. Rich made his way from the stage, walking around the entire room while Rob and Swain looked on, Rob making up new lyrics about Rich as he was walking around. It’s the little things like this that make the conventions so much fun and so unique.
On Sunday nights is one of my absolute favorite panels; the Kings of Con panel. This is a panel with just Rich and Rob – and it’s so great to hear questions asked about their work, about directing, writing together, Kings of Con, and much more. It’s usually the last panel of the convention and such an amazing way to close out the con.
These men do so many things that often go unnoticed. There’s the bus tour, which Rob and Rich have done together or solo, in many cities where they take a group of people on a tour around each city, stopping at different tourist locations. There’s all the welcome bits, the panels, the intermissions, the karaoke, the concert, the many autograph sessions, photo-ops (Rob and Rich do 10 or more sessions every weekend!), meet and greets, acoustic jams, and more.
It goes without saying that these conventions are a combination of hard-work amassed by everyone: from all the work that Creation puts in, to all of the actors who show up every single day and work long days and nights. To Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, who are really just incredibly gracious and giving and a joy to watch at these conventions. To Misha Collins, who works so hard and is so kind, fun and just radiates sunshine. How many other shows have their cast show up and dedicate time to all of these events? The love that everyone shows the fans, and their interactions are really why these conventions are such a success.
When you see the progression over the years, the way the audience has gravitated towards all of these events, all the ways they show and appreciate them as people and musicians, it’s really something that’s almost hard to explain with words.
Celebmix opened the second round of voting for it’s 2018 CelebMix Awards Thursday Morning. As expected given the results at the end of round 1, Misha Collins has moved on to compete in round two of the voting for “Philanthropist of the Year”. The Supernatural fandom mobilized to push him to 15% of the total vote as of early Thursday but he is currently tied for third place with Jade Thirlwall (15%) behind Louis Tomlinson (23%) and Harry Styles (47%). As this nomination relies on fans voting, overtaking the One Direction fandom may prove to be difficult.
Some of Misha’s philanthropic endeavors were outlined in our previous article .
The second round of voting will run through Dec 21 at 7am EST/ 10am PST. You can vote on any device and often can vote multiple times! Vote here.

The thrilling Elseworlds crossover comes to a conclusion on Supergirl and there’s something different going on right out of the gate. Instead of hearing Kara’s story, the intro is being done by John Deegan, who is apparently now Superman.
Oliver and Barry try to point out that he can’t just make himself a hero. To drive the point home, they give him a situation that they have both been in many times. By causing a crane to fall towards a crowd, Deegan has to make a choice: save the people, or stop Barry and Oliver. Thankfully, he does the right thing and helps the people, allowing Oliver and Barry to escape for now.
John Diggle (David Ramsey) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) have become Superman’s minions. Image courtesy of The CW.
S.T.A.R. Labs is now Superman’s headquarters. John Diggle and a silver-haired Caitlin are part of his team. He’s upset that the fugitives got away, but they assure him that he is all powerful and will catch them. A disturbance in the pipeline has Deegan going down to check it out. As we saw in previews, Kara is locked in one of the cells. She knows that the man she sees is not Clark. Deegan points out that she was a better hero than Oliver or Barry. While he knew all about them, he knew nothing of Kara or Superman. His book had no info on them, as if they weren’t from this world. Alex is an agent on patrol in the meta prison, but she shows only disdain for Kara before being dismissed by Deegan. He tells Kara that if she’s not a model prisoner, he’ll kill Alex.
Barry and Oliver go to find Cisco in hopes that he will breach them to Earth 38 so they can get the real Superman. When they attempt to enter his apartment, they instead step out onto a platform outside time and space. Here they are greeted by The Monitor. For whatever reason, he tells them that his interest is piqued. Even as ordinary humans, they managed to outwit Superman. He tells them there may be hope for the universe yet, then he simply sends them back.
Barry says that it stands to reason that if they’re good guys gone bad, then perhaps Cisco is now a bad guy, too. They go to a bar where the bad crowd is known to hang out and are surprised to see most of the people there seem afraid of them. One person who isn’t scared is the bartender, Gary. Yep, Gary from Legends of Tomorrow! In a cute twist, he calls them “legends.” (Yeah, writers. We see what you did there!) (As a note, Oliver, Barry, and Kara all tried calling the Legends. Ray scoffed about how it was for the “annual crossover” and the broken timeline versions of themselves chose not to help out.) Gary points them in the direction of Cisco, who happens to be the boss, in a corner booth, counting money.
Legends of Tomorrow’s Gary Green (Adam Tsekhman) makes an appearance as fanboy bartender.
Supergirl sees Alex on patrol and calls her forward. She tries to explain that she’s not from this Earth and that in her world, they are sisters. Alex has no time for this and simply closes the viewing door, so she and Kara can’t see each other anymore.
Talking to Cisco doesn’t go very well, especially since he prefers to be called Mr. Ramon now. Annoyed by the people trying to get his attention, Cisco’s muscle takes notice. Turns out his security guy is James Olsen. Barry and Oliver assume they can take him, but they assume wrong. Before James can take them out in the alley to kill them, Barry says he knew Dante, Cisco’s brother. That brings everything to a halt. Barry says Dante would want him to listen to their proposal – the opportunity to get rid of Superman. In Cisco’s office, they ask if he can still vibe, which thankfully, he can. He’s been using his powers to break into bank vaults. Barry offers to teach him how to use those powers to get to a whole different Earth. Cisco is intrigued. After 17 tries, Cisco is finally able to breach them to Earth 38 to Superman and Lois Lane.

Outside of Kara’s cell, she listens to a conversation between Alex and Caitlin. Caitlin is trying to get Alex to leave, but she won’t. Also, she’s apparently been dating guys. (I wonder if this Alex is struggling with her sexuality just like the other Alex did.) When Alex opens the viewing hatch, she sees Kara attempting to use her cold breath to escape. A press of a button does something that causes Kara pain and she screams out a rhyme in another language, one that her Alex had taught her. Luckily, this Alex had the same memory of how she learned it. Kara tells her all about her Alex and how amazing she is and how she knows this Alex is just as amazing, even if they aren’t sisters. After telling Alex about how Superman rewrote the world, Alex agrees to let her out so Kara can go stop him.
They don’t make it far before running into Deegan, Diggle, and Caitlin. Alex willingly says she and Kara are sisters now and that just leads to Deegan saying they’ll both burn. Just as he’s about to shoot them with his laser eyes, Cisco, Oliver, Barry, and the real Superman show up. The two Supermans (Supermen?) go shooting through the roof in battle. Cisco takes off while Oliver gets drug into the elevator by Diggle and Caitlin. Barry, Kara, and Alex go to search for the book.
Alex says that anything valuable to Superman would be kept in the Fortress of Solitude, which just happens to be the time vault, the secret room of S.T.A.R. Labs. That’s where they find the book and lucky for them, it’s unlocked this time. However, it’s too powerful for even Kara to look at, so she takes it to Clark.
The Superman battle is raging across Central City, and the real one is actually not doing so well. Kara shows up just in time to save him from a punch, shooting Deegan with her laser eyes and knocking him into the distance. She gives him the book and a white-blue light starts swirling around and things begin to change. Kara is back in her Supergirl outfit and Barry ends up back in his Flash suit. The elevator opens up and Oliver is once again the Green Arrow, complete with bow. Diggle and Caitlin are unconscious.

When Barry joins the super cousins, Deegan shows up still as Superman and grabs him. He and Kara match eye beams, but Kata falls. Oliver is there next and ready to kill Deegan, but Barry tells him not to. He suggests that not channeling that darkness into his actions was the real test. Oliver lowers the bow and Deegan shoves him away. He does a thunderclap which causes Clark to drop the book and he’s able to race off with it. (I knew it was too early in the episode to be done!)
Back at S.T.A.R. Labs/Superman headquarters, Barry suggests that they slow down time. He says that if he and Supergirl go around the globe at just over Mach 7, it will slow the Earth’s rotation. They agree to do it, but Superman tells them he saw them do that in the book and when they did, they both died. Without any other options, they try it anyway.
Oliver tells Clark to get the book and he goes to talk to The Monitor. He tells Mar Novu that he wasn’t testing how strong they are but how good they are. He points out that while he himself is filled with darkness, Barry and Kara are good. They are the ones that should be saved because they are the ones who will stand up against whatever being is coming – they are the ones he needs. The Monitor tells him that balance must remain. One change begets another and he asks Oliver what he thinks should happen.
Clark approaches Deegan as he is changing things, but he can’t even get close. Deegan creates an A.M.A.Z.O. like robot. After Clark fires his eye lasers, it does the same right back, knocking him back into a car. That’s the moment a breach opens and Braniac, J’onn, Lois Lane holding some kind of hammer, all walk through. Brainiac takes on the robot while J’onn goes to save the civilians. Lois uses the hammer on the ground and it causes Deegan to drop the book. He’s quick to pick back up though, aiming it at the couple. Lois goes flying through the air. That’s the moment that Barry and Kara’s efforts take effect. They are burning away, but the world slows.

Oliver shows up with a special blue-tipped arrow. He fires it into the book and it creates an explosion of blue light, causing all the effects to fade. Time resumes and Barry and Kara are fine. Clark is able to catch Lois and Deegan turns back into his former self, but with a deformed, burned face. The book still exists, but no longer glows. All is good in the world again.
Kara points out how this has become an annual thing and Barry hopes it doesn’t continue. (Sorry, Barry! The fans love it!) Oliver is begrudgingly smiling and admits to liking Kara and Barry, but tells them not to tell anyone. Kara, J’onn, Lois, Clark, and Brainiac take a breach back to their Earth.
Back on the farm, Clark breaks some news to Kara. He and Lois are having a baby. Since the baby will be half Kryptonian, the safest place for Lois to be when the baby starts kicking would be on Argo, the remaining Kryptonian colony. There, the baby won’t have super strength. They aren’t just staying there for the pregnancy though. Clark is hanging up his cape for a while and leaving the world in Kara’s hands.
Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Barry (Grant Gustin) can finally take a moment to relax and enjoy a victory beer. Image courtesy of The CW.
On Earth 1, Barry and Oliver are having a victory beer, discussing how they’ve changed their destiny and each calling the other a good person. Barry wants to hug it out (touch is his love language after all), but Oliver refuses and proposes a toast instead “to appreciating what you may have for however long you may have it.”
Oliver ends up getting a call from Kate Kane. She asks if the doctor, who is now a patient in the asylum he used to work in, is going to be an issue. It seems he’s made a friend. The patient who wore the gold mask and whacked Barry with the baseball bat before getting in the van tells Deegan that all is as it should be and that the universe will never be the same. For those curious, this character is Roger Hayden, a.k.a. Psycho-Pirate.

This leads up to a title promo for next year’s crossover – Crisis On Infinite Earths.
Wow! What a ride we went on for Elseworlds! Not only did our heroes save the world as usual, but we got to meet a couple of new characters in the process. While Lois Lane might not be seen as often, we should be getting more of Batwoman and that is definitely something to look forward to.
What did you think about the crossover event? Anything you wished they would have done differently? Any lingering questions? Let us know in the comments below!
