A few nights ago, fans in Toronto were treated to a great night of German Electronicore from Electric Callboy (previously known as Eskimo Callboy). A comedic six-piece whose fans are known to embrace their neon 80’s styled workout gear, mullet wigs, and ability to not take themselves too seriously. While the roughly 7,000 capacity stadium was not sold out, the committed contingent who came to show their support did not allow the small coliseum to feel empty in any way.

Joining the headliners on their tour was opening act Scene Queen (Hannah Rose Collins), an artist from the United States, who is known for her coining of the term “bimbocore”, a subgenre of metalcore with strong feminist undertones. She warmed up the crowd with a 9-song setlist, starting with Manicure, and entertained the crowd with other singles, “Pink G-String” and “18+”.

Following Scene Queen, Australian metalcore band Polaris took the stage.  Active since 2012, the 5-piece group is well known to Toronto metal fans, and they were received very well for their heavy vocals and melodic hooks, they set the stage well for the headliners.

Taking the stage at 9 p.m., the headliners exploded onto the stage with their quintessential energy, bringing out Sum 41’s Dave Baksh to join them for their cover of “Still Waiting” as the second song of their setlist.  They blazed through a 20-song set, including all the well-known hits and a few mashup covers as well.  While enjoying the Drum Solo, the band brought guitars, keyboard, and mics out into the middle of the floor for a campfire.  Asking the crowd to sit down on the floor, they performed a couple of songs right in the middle of the fans, including “a cover of their cover” of the Maggie Reilly song “Everytime We Touch”. The TANZNEID tour is in support of the upcoming release of their 7th studio album, which will be out in August.
