Prime Video just released the trailer for its highly-anticipated upcoming series Off Campus, based on the books by Elle Kennedy.
The first season is gearing up to showcase Garrett Graham and Hannah Wells, after Kennedy’s book The Deal, which is the story of those two characters.
The series revolves around four hockey players from Briar University: Garrett Graham, John Logan, Dean Heyward-Di Laurentis, and John Tucker. Each book in the series follows each one of the boys’ love stories, with Garrett first, then Logan, then Dean, then Tucker.
We already know that some things are going to be changed for the series (for example, they’ve made Tucker younger and Justin is a music major, not an athlete), but so far, Garrett/Hannah are still set to be the focus of the first season.
The second season has already been greenlit and the cast will be back to shoot it this summer, though no one is sure yet if they’re keeping it within the original timeline of Logan being next, or if they’re moving Dean’s story up next.
Let’s take a look at the newly-released trailer below, and break it down!
Right off the bat, we get one of the most anticipated parts; Garrett referring to Hannah as “Wellsy”. It’s a nickname beloved from the books, and it’s used quite a few times in the trailer.
The trailer shows that they’re keeping a lot of things the same; you can see where the fake-dating trope comes into play as Hannah wants Justin’s attention. There’s a cute part in the trailer as well where Hannah says “Deal”, giving a little nod as well to the title of the book, The Deal.
Bits are sprinkled through like Hannah’s music rehearsals, the hockey games, and Hannah working at the diner.
One of the things I loved most was sprinkling in parts of the other boys’ personalities. You see Tucker serving food, Dean making out with a girl, and Logan having a heart-to-heart with Garrett; all very reminiscent to give you the feel of the other boys’ personalities in only a matter of seconds. There’s also some sweet moments with Allie and Hannah, showing off their friendship.
They do show a bit of the spicier side of things, which, if you’ve read the books, hopefully this means they’ll do the books justice in that aspect as well.
Towards the end of the trailer, you can spot Phil Graham, Garrett’s dad, which hints at that plot line as well for book followers.
Especially after seeing the trailer, there’s no question in my mind that this show is perfectly cast. Belmont Cameli and Ella Bright completely encapsulate Garrett and Hannah, as well as Stephen Kalyn as Dean, Antonio Cipriano as Logan, Jalen Thomas Brooks as Tucker, and Mika Abdalla as Allie.
We’re so excited to see what the series is like when it launches on Prime Video on May 13.
You can also meet Belmont, Ella, Antonio, Jalen, and Khobe Clarke (Beau Maxwell) on Sunday, May 10 in Whippany, NJ at Creation Entertainment’s Page, Screen, and Everything In Between Convention. Get info and tickets here.
