Washington, D.C. was the place to be for Awesome Con 2026! As a fan of sci-fi, fantasy, and stellar storytelling, I couldn’t have asked for a better lineup. The energy was electric, the cosplay was top-tier, and the panels were genuinely unforgettable.
Here’s a breakdown of the panels that made the con for me:
Firefly: Getting to see the Firefly cast back together is always a
“shiny” moment. There’s a specific kind of chemistry there that hasn’t
faded with time and being in the room for the big announcement and
feeling all that love and energy couldn’t be beat – worth it despite
having to get in line at 7am for a 10am panel!
The Flaneverse: (Katie Parker, Henry Thomas, Carla Gugino) Despite
having only seen The Haunting of Hill House myself I’m glad I decided to check it out. It was definitely the most serious panel I’ve sat in on; full of stories
and great answers to well thought out questions from the audience.
The X-Files (Gillian Anderson): Seeing Gillian was a huge highlight
for me. Hearing her insights on her iconic roles was a total dream for
any long-time fan.
Supernatural: (Jim Beaver & Misha Collins) The panel was exactly what
you’d expect: hilarious, heartfelt, and full of that chaotic energy
that kept the show running for 15 seasons.
Baldur’s Gate 3: (Neil Newbon & Devora Wilde) The voice cast is just
as charming and chaotic as their in-game counterparts. It was amazing
to hear about the motion capture process and how they brought the
world of Faerûn to life.
Last, but not least, Molly Quinn: As a huge Castle fan it was exciting
to be a part of Molly’s first ever convention – she was engaging and
insightful – very grateful Nathan finally convinced her into attending
a con.
