Photos: Sum 41 at Pier 6 Pavilion in Baltimore

When I was 14, “Fatlip” by Sum 41 hit the airwaves and became the “must-have” song on all of my mixtape CDs. The song was a complete and total bop, and to this day, I still know all of the words. Every last one. To be able to experience their final tour — 24 years later — was truly amazing and such a dream come true.

Showing up at Pier 6 Pavilion in Baltimore, Maryland, it was a hot day and the sun was just setting while the crowd got excited for what would be an epic show. Joey Valance & Brae opened first with a short, but energetic set that got everyone in the crowd jumping. While they weren’t a band I was familiar with, I really loved their Beastie Boys vibes.

The next band, The Interrupters, led by an amazing female vocalist, Aimee Interrupter, really amped up the crowd with their hits, “She’s Kerosene” (a favorite on my playlist) and “Take Back the Power.” It’s an amazing female empowerment song that has been making the rounds on TikTok lately. If you ever get a chance to see them live, I highly recommend it.

When Sum 41 finally took the stage, the crowd was fully ready to rock out. The venue was packed from front to back with beach balls and crowd surfers flying through the air. The band played hits from their extensive discography while everyone sang along, and it was obvious how much it touched each band member’s heart. It truly was so beautiful to be in the audience for this final tour, and get to experience what this band has given to us for so many years.
