‘Wonka’ Starring Timothée Chalamet Coming Soon to Max

Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet, will begin streaming exclusively on Max on March 8, 2024. The exciting announcement was made via the streaming service’s official Twitter page.

Wonka serves as a prequel to the beloved classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, based on the best-selling children’s book by Roald Dahl. The movie delves into the early years of the eccentric and enigmatic Willy Wonka, exploring his formative experiences as a magician, inventor, and chocolate maker. With a focus on character development and world-building, Wonka offers an immersive and captivating glimpse into the origins of one of the most iconic figures in children’s literature and cinema.

Directed by Paul King from a screenplay he co-wrote with Simon Farnaby, based on a story by King and characters created by Dahl, the film stars Chalamet, Hugh Grant, Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Mathew Baynton, Sally Hawkins, Rowan Atkinson, Jim Carter, and Olivia Colman. The cast for Wonka also includes Natasha Rothwell, Rich Fulcher, Rakhee Thakrar, Tom Davis, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith.
