Justin Johnson Cortez has joined the cast of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon in a recurring role. The series will star Josh Duhamel, Minka Kelly, James Brolin, Eoin Macken, Lizzy Greene, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Garrett Wareing, Andrew Liner. Also cast in the role are Brett Cullen, Jennifer Ens, Kenneth Miller, Niko Guardado, Casey W. Johnson, Kate Burton, and Jaren Robledo.
The series is based on the book series by Jodi Thomas. According to Deadline, Cortez, “plays Kai, a deputy on the Ransom Canyon Police Force under Sheriff Dan Lazano. Kai is learning the ropes in his job: picking up drunks, working security detail, and handing out parking tickets when needed. Kai is wary and suspicious of the new foreman in town, Yancy. Kai is protective of Ellie and doesn’t want to see Ellie hurt by Yancy.”
Justin previously starred on The CW’s Walker: Independence, and had an appearance in its mothership show, Walker, at the end of Season 3. He is set for a recurring role in Season 4 as Detective David Luna. You can see our last interview with Cortez about Walker: Independence, here.
