Netflix’s Geeked Week Kicks Off 2023 With ‘Stranger Things’ Day

Netflix Geeked Week has kicked off for another year, with the first day of celebrations landing on “Stranger Things Day”, November 6. The date is named such throughout the fandom as it is the date Will Byers goes missing in season 1, with this year’s exact date marking 40 years. As expected there were several fantastic announcements throughout Monday, which you can read more about below.

“Bringing Stranger Things to the Stage”

Take a look behind the curtain at what’s in store for the stage production of the Stranger Things universe, Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The First Shadow is set in 1959 Hawkins, Indiana, and focuses on younger versions of familiar characters Joyce, Jim Hopper, Bob, and Henry Creel — specifically showcasing how Henry became 001 — as well as introducing a new important character, Patty Newby. The stage production is set to begin with previews on November 17 at the Phoenix Theatre in London’s West End before opening on December 14. Watch the featurette below.

Stranger Things returns to Dead By Daylight

Dead By Daylight and Stranger Things first collaborated in November 2021 and now the Netflix franchise has returned to the multiplayer horror game after the chapter has been unavailable for some time. Players can once again experience the chapter as new versions of the Demogorgon as the Killer, and Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) and Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) as survivors. The”Welcome Back” trailer for the franchise’s return collaboration, which is available now, can be watched below.

Stranger Things comes to Fortnite

Eleven, Jim Hopper, and the Demogorgon are now available to purchase as playable skins in Fortnite. In addition to the three characters, two of which with additional selectable styles of their own, two franchise weapons, a back bling, and an emote are available for purchase as well. The reveal trailer for the collaboration can be viewed on the official Fortnite social media pages, including X (formerly Twitter).

Experience the power of Vecna in VR

Fans of the franchise with virtual reality systems will be able to enter their villain era soon as they play as the infamous Vecna as he takes over the Upside Down. The virtual experience stars returning series actors Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna and Matthew Modine as Dr. Martin Brenner. The gameplay view for the virtual reality experience can be viewed below. Stranger Things VR is available on November 30 on Meta Quest.

In addition to the announcements throughout the day, the official social media pages for Stranger Things also shared plenty of other content including miniatures made by David Miniatures inspired by key locations from the franchise, videos looking back on each season of the series so far, and more. The Stranger Things writers’ X account also shared a photo of the script, showing the opening to scene 1 of season 5, chapter 1 — a quick tease of what’s to come for the series’ final season.
