Disney has shared a brief clip of Chris Pine singing his version of “This Is The Thanks I Get?!” from Walt Disney Animation Studios upcoming musical-comedy Wish.
In the new behind-the-scenes clip, Pine’s King Magnifico passionately sings about giving and giving and giving while receiving nothing in return. “I give and give and give and give and you’d think they’d all be content; and all I really want is just a little respect!”
Pine is no stranger to singing, especially in Disney films. In Disney’s 2014 Into the Woods adaption of the Brothers Grimm fairytales, Pine gave a memorable performance as Cinderella’s Prince singing “Agony” with Billy Magnussen, Rapunzel’s Prince.
17-year-old Asha (Ariana DeBose) makes a wish to the magical King Magnifico (Chris Pine) that is answered by a cosmic force — a little ball of boundless energy named Star. Asha and Star work together to confront a formidable foe in Magnifico and save her community. The trailer also introduces Valentino (Alan Tudyk), Asha’s pet goat.
Wish is directed by Oscar-winning director Chris Buck (Frozen, Frozen 2) and Fawn Veerasunthorn (Raya and the Last Dragon), produced by Peter Del Vecho (Frozen, Frozen 2) and co-produced by Juan Pablo Reyes (Encanto). Jennifer Lee (Frozen, Frozen 2) executive produces and serves as a co-writer with Allison Moore (Night Sky, Manhunt). Wish features original songs by Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Julia Michaels and Grammy-winning producer/songwriter/musician Benjamin Rice. Dave Metzger composed the score.
Wish opens in theaters on November 22, just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.
