Peacock has announced the premiere date for John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams, a six-episode exploration of terrible tales based on true stories that happened in seemingly quiet, perfect American towns … something Carpenter is no stranger to portraying on the screen.

Carpenter, a legend in horror whose mind has provided iconic franchises and stories such as Halloween, The Fog, The Thing, and more, produces alongside Sandy King, Tony DiSanto, showrunner Jordan Roberts, Patrick Smith, and Andy Portnoy. In addition to producing, Carpenter also composed the theme music for the series, as well as returning to the director’s chair for an episode. The series’ other episodes are directed by Jordan Roberts, Michelle Latimer, and Jan Pavlacky.

The series uses cinematic scene-work, news clips, home photos, and archival footage to create a frightening experience for viewers as it explores the dark secrets of suburban America and exposes what can lie beneath perfectly manicured lawns and the smiling faces of neighbors. Each episode features a true story with accounts from the people who lived through the terrifying events.

Suburban Screams appropriately premieres on Peacock Friday, October 13. Watch the trailer below.
