The countdown to spooky season begins now!

Since the early 90’s, RL Stine has been shocking and scaring fans of all ages with his best-selling Scholastic series, Goosebumps. Now, a new adaption of the beloved books is coming soon to Disney+ and is sure to frighten a whole new generation of kids and parents alike.

The series premieres on Friday, October 13 (how apropos!) with five episodes launching that day across both Disney+ and Hulu as part of Disney+’s “Hallowstream” and Hulu’s “Huluween” celebrations. That same night, the first two episodes will be shown on Freeform as part of its annual “31 Nights of Halloween” lineup.

The remaining five installments will be exclusive to Disney+ and Hulu and air on a weekly basis.

“R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps franchise is a pop culture phenomenon that holds a special place in the hearts of people of all ages,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television, in a press release. “We are delighted to bring this spooky new series to audiences everywhere in a big way on Disney+ and Hulu, which we hope will not only captivate new audiences with its elevated thrills and chills, but also lifelong fans nostalgic for the stories that are a staple of their generation.”

According to the official logline, the series follows five high schoolers — played by Zack Morris, Isa Briones, Miles McKenna, Ana Yi Puig, and Will Price — as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle, while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.

The series also co-stars vets Justin Long and Rachael Harris and will draw on elements from five of the most popular books in the series: “Say Cheese and Die,” “The Haunted Mask,” “The Cuckoo Clock of Doom,” “Go Eat Worms,” and “Night of the Living Dummy.”
