Cobweb, the feature film debut for director Samuel Bodin (Netflix’s Marianne), has released a skin-crawling official trailer ahead of its summer theatrical release.

The horror thriller stars Woody Norman, Antony Starr, and Lizzy Caplan as a young boy and his parents, who he believes are hiding a terrible secret. Alongside the previously announced familial trio the cast features Cleopatra Coleman portraying a substitute teacher.

The synopsis for the film reads:

“Eight-year-old Peter is plagued by a mysterious, constant tap, tap from inside his bedroom wall – a tapping that his parents insist is all in his imagination. As Peter’s fear intensifies, he believes that his parents (Lizzy Caplan and Antony Starr) could be hiding a terrible, dangerous secret and questions their trust. And for a child, what could be more frightening than that?”

Cobweb is directed by Bodin from a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin, and produced by Roy Lee under Vertigo Entertainment alongside Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver under Point Grey. Jon Berg also serves as a producer on the film. Executive producers include Andrew Childs and Josh Fagen, with Jim Miller and Meredith Wieck overseeing the project on behalf of Lionsgate, who is tasked as the film’s distributor.

Cobweb releases in theaters July 21, 2023. Stay tuned with Nerds & Beyond for updates.
