A Handmaid’s Tale reunion is imminent, as Deadline announced that Elisabeth Moss is set to star in a new psychological thriller from Max Minghella, entitled Shell. Moss will star in the feature alongside Kate Hudson (Glass Onion) and Kaia Gerber (Babylon).

The film will follow Moss’ character Samantha, a struggling actress who receives a free trial to a health and beauty company called Shell, who promises to keep clients looking young forever. After the trial, Samantha’s life is changed seemingly for the better, and she soon forms a friendship with Shell’s CEO, Zoe Shannon (Hudson). However, Samantha begins to fear for her life after Shell clients mysteriously go missing, including social media star Chloe Benson (Gerber).

Shell was written by Jack Stanley. Minghella will direct, marking the second feature he’s directed following his debut in 2018 with Teen Spirit. He produces for Blank Tape, along with Brian Kavanaugh Jones and Fred Berger for Automatik, Moss and and Lindsey McManus for Love & Squalor Pictures, and Alicia Van Couvering. Jamie Bell is on as executive producer.

In a statement to Deadline, Moss said: “This is one of the most unique, entertaining and special scripts I’ve ever read and I am so honored to be a part of it as an actor and flattered that Max came to me with this character, who’s unlike anyone I’ve ever played before. Having worked with Max for years on The Handmaid’s Tale, I’m so thrilled to now be directed by him as I’m a huge fan of his as a filmmaker. We at Love & Squalor are also excited to be working alongside Automatik and Black Bear, two companies we very much admire.”

A release window for Shell has yet to be announced.
