Demi Lovato Announces Directorial Debut

Demi Lovato has proved herself to be a multi-talented artist, and now she’s tackling a new field as she heads to Hulu with her directorial debut.

The film, currently titled Child Star, is a documentary that will take an in depth look at the highs and lows of growing up in the spotlight through the eyes of Lovato herself, along with some of the other most notable former child stars. The other participants in the film have yet to be named; however, they’ll be exploring how growing up in the limelight affected their future through intimate conversations with Lovato, verité footage and archival material.

Lovato will be co-directing with Nicola Marsh (Stay On Board: The Leo Baker Story). The documentary is being produced by Michael D. Ratner’s OBB Pictures as part of their non-exclusive deal with Walt Disney Television Alternative that focuses on creating documentaries, docu-series, original specials and unscripted formats catering specifically to Gen Z and Millennial audiences. Lovato’s own production company, DLG, will also be producing along with Scooter Braun’s SB Projects.
