‘Thunderbolts’: ‘The Bear’ Star Ayo Edebiri Joins Cast

FX’s hit series about a Chicago sandwich shop, The Bear, has been making waves this awards season, and one of its breakout stars is now set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As first reported by Deadline, Ayo Edebiri has joined the cast of Thunderbolts in an undisclosed role.

Edebiri joins a stacked roster that includes Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova (Black Widow), Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes aka the Winter Soldier (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier), David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov aka the Red Guardian (Black Widow), Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr aka Ghost (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Wyatt Russell as John Walker aka U.S. Agent (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier), Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov aka Taskmaster (Black Widow), and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier).

While the plot of Thunderbolts is still under wraps at this time, the group’s Marvel Comics origins can be traced back to Baron Zemo, who assembled an antihero team with former members of the Masters of Evil. It remains to be seen if Daniel Brühl will make an appearance in the film as well.

Thunderbolts is set to premiere in theaters on July 26, 2024.
