Xosha Roquemore (The Mindy Project) has joined the cast of Captain America: New World Order. The fourth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Captain America franchise will see the return of Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, who moved into his new role as the shield-wielding, star-spangled hero in the Disney+ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Roquemore’s role in the film has not yet been confirmed. This news was first reported by Deadline.

As announced last year, Harrison Ford will be stepping into the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross for New World Order, following the late William Hurt’s portrayal of the character. Other confirmed cast members include Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader (The Incredible Hulk), TFATWS alums: Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley and Danny Ramirez as Joaquín Torres, and Marvel newcomer Shira Haas as the Israeli superhero Sabra.

Plot details about the film are still under wraps. Given the usual interconnectivity of the MCU, this comes as no surprise at this stage, as there are still several films and series in between that may need to set events and plotlines into motion.

New World Order will be directed by Julius Onah with TFATWS showrunner Malcolm Spellman on the script.

Captain America: New World Order will land in theatres on May 3, 2024.
