Fresh off its run at TIFF, Searchlight Pictures has revealed the trailer for Stephen Williams’ Chevalier.
Chevalier sees Kelvin Harrison Jr. transform into composer Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Bologne, the illegitimate son of an African slave and a French plantation owner, rises to prestige in French society as a celebrated violinist-composer and fencer. Fighting back against racism, he would join the ranks of Marie Antoinette’s circle until an ill-fated love affair and a falling out with her and her court jeopardizes his ranks in French society.
Alongside Harrison Jr. and Boynton, Samara Weaving, Marton Csokas, Alex Fitzalan, and Minnie Driver also star.
Written by Stefani Robinson, Chevalier will premiere in theaters on April 7, 2023.
