Fresh off a festival run, Darren Aronofsky’s divisive film The Whale starring an unrecognizable Brendan Fraser has released its first trailer.

Fraser plays a 600-pound reclusive man that is slowly eating himself to death and is given one last chance at redemption. The film is based on Samuel D. Hunter’s award-winning play. Sadie Sink, Ty Simpkins, Samantha Morton, and Hong Chau also star in the film.

The Whale releases in theaters on December 9, 2022.
