Disney+ dropped a first look at the action-packed American Born Chinese as part of D23 Expo, and fans are not going to be disappointed:
American Born Chinese stars Ben Wang as teenager Jin Wang, and “explores culture and identity through the lens of adolescence,” actor Ben Wang shares in the trailer. It is based on the graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang and executive produced by Destin Daniel Cretton who helmed the successful Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The indomitable Michelle Yeoh describes the show in the featurette: “It’s a lot of fun. There’s a lot of magic, there’s a lot of badass action.” The show will clearly borrow heavily from Chinese mythology. “We’re adding a lot of characters that you would recognize if you watch Chinese movies,” adds showrunner Kelvin Yu.
