Lionsgate has announced that Academy Award winner Viola Davis will join the cast of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes! Davis will play Dr. Volumnia Gaul, the Head Gamemaker.

Dr. Gaul is one of the major antagonists in the novel, with her scheming ways leaving a lasting impact on the Games. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is a prequel to the hit Hunger Games franchise, following the life of Coriolanus Snow as a younger man and the origins of the Games themselves.

The film will also star Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, and more. The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be released in theaters on November 17, 2023. Stay tuned for more information as we get it!
