It was a monumental day for Marvel Studios at San Diego Comic-Con during their animation panel.
The studio had a list of announcements to get through during their panel. Following the I Am Groot trailer reveal, and additional details for Spider-Man: Freshman Year, Marvel Zombies, and What If…? season 2, the studio moved on to discuss the reboot of the classic cartoon X-MEN 97.
X-MEN 97 will release sometime in the fall of 2023, and a season 2 has already been greenlit from the studio.
In addition to multiple first looks, the panel also revealed some deeper details for the upcoming series. First — Sunspot, Cable, Bishop, and Nightcrawler are new additions to the series, having previously not been showcased in the 90s cartoon. Also notably revealed is that Magneto will be the leader of the X-Men for the series.
