Grey Sloan Memorial is getting more residents. The Sex Lives of College Girls and Dash & Lily‘s Midori Francis is joining Grey’s Anatomy for the upcoming 19th season!

According to Deadline, Francis will portray Mika Yasuda, a new medical resident at the hospital. She joins recently announced cast Alexis Floyd and Niko Terho, who will also be portraying new residents … despite the fact that the residency program was shut down at the end of season 18. It will be rebuilt from scratch in the upcoming season.
Per the outlet, the character description reads:
“Mika Yasuda is a middle child with eight siblings. She is used to being overlooked and underestimated and uses it to her advantage. Mika is dealing with overwhelming student loans from med school, but she’s scrappy and confident she can make it in the program and rise to the top.”
Midori Francis plays Alicia on HBO Max’s The Sex Lives of College Girls and will be a recurring character in the second season. She also portrayed Lily in the Netflix series Dash & Lily and can also be seen in the movies Good Boys and Afterlife of the Party.
Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy premieres Thursday, October 6 at 9 p.m. EST on ABC. As always, stay tuned for more news.
