Today, Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give, Everything, Everything) was revealed to have joined the cast of Disney+’s upcoming Star Wars mystery-thriller The Acolyte, a series which will whisk audiences away into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark side powers.

Originally announced during Disney’s 2020 Investor Day event, minimal information has been revealed about the series, which will be brought to life by Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland. Plot details are still under wraps at this time, but we do know that The Acolyte will take place during the final days of the High Republic era. The High Republic, which was the golden age of the Jedi, began around 200 years prior to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Lucasfilm has recently been exploring the stories and characters of the High Republic era through a publishing campaign with a variety of books and comics.

Stenberg took to Instagram to share the exciting news.

It remains to be seen when The Acolyte is due to hit Disney+.
