Get ready for some diabolical news, because Prime Video’s hit series The Boys has officially been renewed for a fourth season!

Based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, Eric Kripke’s The Boys is set in a fictional world where superheroes exist. However, most of these super-powered beings are a far cry from the heroic figures in our world of pop culture. Instead, corruption runs rampant among them, especially in The Seven — a group of “celebrity” Supes working under the villainous corporation Vought. Meanwhile, the Boys are a crew of vigilantes brought together by a common goal — taking down the Supes and Vought once and for all (and trying not to die in the process).

The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, and Claudia Doumit.

Following the show’s explosive second season, season 3 — which premiered last week — picks up a year later. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when the Boys learn of a mysterious anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into The Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first superhero: Soldier Boy (portrayed by series newcomer Jensen Ackles). Go here for our spoiler-free review of season 3.

As per Amazon, “Over the first three days of its third season, the worldwide audience for The Boys has grown by +17% from season two, and +234% from season one.”

On the topic of the renewal, showrunner Eric Kripke said, “Speaking for the cast and crew, we’re so grateful to Sony, Amazon, and most of all the fans for embracing the show and allowing us to make more. We’re thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys’ fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success.”

The next episode of The Boys will premiere on Friday, June 17, exclusively on Prime Video.
