Star Wars Celebration is officially in full swing, kicking off a weekend full of events in Anaheim, California. As a part of Lucasfilm’s Studio Showcase today, fans were treated to some long-awaited announcements on the upcoming series Andor.

Created by Tony Gilroy, Andor will see Diego Luna reprise his role as the rebel spy Cassian Andor from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Other cast members include Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, and Kyle Soller.

The ‘Andor’ series will explore a new perspective from the ‘Star Wars’ galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

Today, we’ve learned that the first season of Andor will consist of 12 episodes, and the two-episode series premiere will land on Disney+ on August 31. The series is set five years before the events of Rogue One, and season 2 (which is due to begin filming later this year) will lead directly into the aforementioned film.

The show’s teaser trailer and poster were also released today.
