The ton has found its couple of interest for season 3 — Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton!

In a deviation from the source material, the couple referred to as “Polin” will be taking center stage, veering from what would have placed the second eldest Bridgerton, Benedict, at center stage. Polin has been building since season 1, with season 2 ending on a low note for the two longtime friends. Colin and Penelope’s story was fourth in the book series, so a simple swap may be occurring.

Penelope actress Nicola Coughlan shared the news at Netflix’s FYSEE Space’s opening night ATAS panel, saying, “Like Lady Whistledown, I have been keeping a secret for quite some time and I can confirm to you all that season 3 is Colin and Penelope’s love story.” She went on to mention that she’d known for quite some time, finding the news out in the second week of filming season 2.

More news has been filtering in on season 3 of the mega-hit series, with confirmation that both Anthony and Kate, the focus of season 2, will be returning for season 3 as well as a recast for the second youngest Bridgerton daughter, Francesca.

Filming for season 3 is set to begin this summer with a new showrunner, Jess Brownell.
