New Details Released About Walt Disney World’s MagicBand+ and “Hey Disney!” Technology

New details have been released about the MagicBand+ and “Hey Disney!” technology that will be coming to Walt Disney World this year.

The current MagicBand technology allows park guests to enter parks and hotel rooms, make purchases, collect their ride photos, and more. The MagicBand+ will continue to do all of this with some extra exciting features!

The MagicBand+ will light up during nighttime spectaculars and complement the fireworks. It will allow you to join “Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters” to allow you to find virtual bounties hidden around Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios. It will light up and vibrate to guide you towards your goal.

Specially for the 50th anniversary celebrations, MagicBand+ will also allow you to interact with the Disney Fab 50 golden statues. It will allow you to bring the sculptures to life and track which ones you have found using the Play Disney Parks mobile app. As you find them, it will unlock digital achievements and “an augmented reality feature that will give you a glimpse into your favorite characters’ worlds.”

MagicBand+ will go on sale this summer at Walt Disney World and will be available at Disneyland Resort later this year. Guests of Disney Resort hotels and Annual Passholders will be able to purchase these at a discounted, pre-arrival price. The original MagicBand will continue to be sold as well.

The new “Hey Disney!” digital voice assistant will also be arriving at Walt Disney World later this year. It will bring 25 popular characters to life, including Mickey Mouse, Olaf, Rocket, Groot, Princess Tiana, and more. It will use Alexa technology for supported Echo devices to provide Disney Resort hotel guests with useful features such as alarms, the weather forecast, requesting park or bus times, ordering room amenities, and more. It will be offered as an optional, complementary feature to hotel guests but will even be available for purchase for all supported Echo devices via the Alexa Skills store.

We can’t wait to see this exciting technology hit Walt Disney World this year! Head over to Disney Parks Blog for more information.
